Discover My Approach to Kinbaku
Through a complete set of exercises and experimentation, this intensive week-long workshop is designed for those ready to dive deeply into the world of Kinbaku, from foundational techniques to the elegance of suspension. It’s ideal for individuals traveling from afar, those who prefer a focused study period, or anyone eager for a structured progression in rope art.

Whether you’re new to my style or familiar with it, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the techniques, concepts, and philosophy that form the backbone of my approach.

This workshop will give you all the basics to understand my style as well as a solid experience to start exploring rope art.

Who Is It For?

This course welcomes both total beginners and those interested in starting with my style while valuing the study of the basics.

What We’ll Explore

Foundational Rope Work and Beyond
We begin with essential techniques such as knots, frictions, and handling, then progress to different patterns like Gote, Mae, Karada, Enzo, and Gyaku Ashi. These foundational patterns are not only building blocks but also gateways to understanding my style—focused on tension, movement, and the interplay of bodies.

Posture, Breathing, and Body Management
Kinbaku is about more than patterns. It’s about presence, connection, and intention. You’ll learn to manage your body and your partner’s, navigating tension, rhythm, and distance for a harmonious experience.

From the Floor to Suspension
The workshop builds toward the art of suspension, approached with the same focus on structure, safety, and creativity. Starting with one rope, floor work, and semi-suspensions, you’ll gain the confidence and skills to explore a full suspension: Arisue’s Go Yokotsuri (Side Suspension), which forms the basis of my Kinbaku approach.

The Role of the Model
This workshop is as much for the model as for the rigger. Models will learn to cultivate structure, adaptability, and communication, enhancing the depth and possibilities of each session.

Philosophy and Creativity
Kinbaku is an evolving art, blending tradition and personal expression. Throughout the week, we’ll discuss not just “how” but “why”—inviting you to reflect on your approach and create ties that are both functional and meaningful.

What to Expect

This is a space for focused learning and connection. While the content is structured, the exercises will adapt to the group’s dynamic, ensuring a tailored experience for all. Each day will include hands-on practice, demonstrations, and opportunities to explore creativity within the framework of safety and respect.

This workshop offers optional switching opportunities, encouraging participants to experience both sides of the rope for a deeper understanding. However, you are welcome to stay within your preferred role.

Let’s explore, learn, and create together in an environment of curiosity, respect, and artistry.

To clarify, this workshop is designed to prepare participants for their first experience with suspension in a progressive and intentional way. Over the course of the week, we will focus on developing essential skills for both riggers and models, building a strong foundation in rope handling, body manipulation, and communication. This preparation is crucial to understanding the physical and technical demands of suspension, ensuring readiness from both perspectives.

It’s important to emphasize that no one will be rushed or pushed into suspension if they are not ready. If I feel that the necessary level of preparation has not yet been reached, I will not allow you to attempt a suspension under my guidance. This is not a restriction but a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and practice.

Frustration is a natural part of any learning process, too much is a destroying movement. The structure of this workshop is designed to support that balance—offering challenges without overwhelming, and always prioritizing safety and confidence over haste. This approach reflects the philosophy of the dojo: a commitment to balance, responsibility, and the middle path.

My goal is to create a space where everyone feels supported to learn and grow, while ensuring that the practice remains safe, respectful, and aligned with the principles I uphold.
