Group Tuition

How to Study?

I offer a wide range of opportunities to share my experience and support your journey in Kinbaku/Rope study. In Brussels, you can follow a structured curriculum: weekday sessions every month (Wednesdays), Switch workshops on weekends, and intensive full-week studies twice a year.

With such a variety of options, I hope you’ll find the path that works best for you. If not, private tuition is always available.

Note: All prices, except for international presenters, are per person. A pair (Tori/Rigger and Uke/Model) counts as two people.

One Week-End to Start Rope Practice

Wondering how to begin? How to integrate into our study group? This course is designed to help newcomers start their journey with us.

Weekday Brussels Curriculum

Every month, or almost, there is an evening group tuition session on Wednesdays.

Floor Work Tuition: Pattern and Half Suspension

Did you enjoy the “One Week-End to Start” workshop and want to continue developing with us? This course is for you!

Each month, we’ll focus on a specific pattern: how to build it and how to use it. The aim is not just to replicate the pattern but to understand the underlying logic and philosophy—so you can apply it creatively in other contexts. The ultimate goal is to help you develop a deeply personal connection to rope, grounded in solid concepts.

Suspension Work Tuition

Suspension is one of the most classic and rewarding phases of rope art.

In my style, and within our dojo, we emphasize studying floor work and semi-suspension first. Building on these foundations, suspension introduces a new dimension, both technically and creatively, as well as in terms of mental engagement.

Tying Deeper: Research

Once you have a solid foundation in my style of rope, both on the floor and in suspension, what’s next? Seasonal research workshops, of course—but there’s more.

Why not, each month, work around a concept that you can explore with one rope, on the floor, and in suspension?

Week-end Switch

Every other month, I will host a rope switch workshop, inspired by my experience with the Aikido approach to learning. While switching is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged, and you’re more than welcome to join in.

One week for Study

This program is ideal for those who live far away, find it easier to dedicate a full week at a time, or are seeking a deeper integration and understanding of rope practice. It’s designed for individuals who prefer to study in switch mode, allowing them to gain insights from both perspectives.

Each year, there will be two dedicated weeks: one to guide you from the basics to your first suspension, and the other to explore all of my ‘fundamental’ suspension techniques, as well as some advanced topics in rope.

Common Rules for Study

Please ensure you are aligned with our philosophy and comfortable with our community rules and behavior. By participating in our events or tuition, you automatically agree to these rules and conditions.

  • No toplessness for any gender unless specifically promoted (e.g., seasonal workshops or weekend events may allow toplessness).
  • Be a Pair/Duo – This rule does not apply to Switch classes (e.g., “One Day to Start” or “One Week for Switch”).
  • Bring your own materials – While not necessary for the “One Day to Start” class, bringing your own materials is encouraged.
  • Arrive up to 15 minutes before the start of the tuition and be present at the beginning. (Please do not arrive earlier, as we need time to set up.)
  • No recording: sound, photo, or video. Be fully present! (Notes and drawings are permitted.)
  • When the educator asks you to untie, please do so immediately. Any delay disrupts the class and other participants.

How is the study organized?

  • Overall Structure: We begin by waking up the body, then we add ropes to establish body-rope contact, and finally, we dive into the main part of the study. I try to conclude with a creative exercise that summarizes the tuition. Of course, there are breaks, and time at the beginning and end of the course to socialize.
  • Exercise Structure: The educator typically demonstrates an exercise and highlights key points. Afterward, students try to replicate it. Questions are welcome between the demonstration and practice. Feel free to ask for help during practice, whether for safety, technical points, inspiration, or validation.
  • Long-Term Learning: If you’re local, please start with “One Day to Start“. If you already have extensive experience, private tuition might help you understand my fundamentals and safety management. After that, the weekly group tuition is the best way to steadily improve. Start with “Floor Work Tuition: Pattern and Half Suspension” (a minimum of 6 sessions is needed to grasp the patterns and their logic) or “Research: Dancing with Ropes: One Rope“. Afterward, you can study “Suspension Work“, leading to the “research workshop“. Also, don’t miss workshops from other presenters; gaining different perspectives on a subject is an excellent way to learn.

The dojo believes in learning step by step. While it may seem time-consuming, we believe this approach leads to faster, stronger knowledge and achievement in the long run.
